In October 2025, Cortex emailed users who have installed the Cortex GitHub app to request that you re-authorize the app in your GitHub org to accept two new permissions: Read-only access to Administration and Read-only access to GitHub Copilot Business.
In mid October, we are releasing an update to Eng Intelligence that allows you to surface AI-assisted development metrics from Copilot. To use this new feature and measure the impact of Copilot on developer productivity, you must re-authorize your GitHub integration and accept the new permissions.
Action required: Accept new permissions for the Cortex GitHub app
- Locate the email with subject line "[GitHub] Cortex App is requesting updated permissions" from noreply@github.com and click the link to review and accept the change.
As a security best practice before clicking links in an email, always verify that the email was sent from a trusted domain. - In GitHub, click Accept new permissions.
Alternately, you could also remove your GitHub integration in Cortex and re-configure it. The GitHub app is preconfigured to include the permissions necessary for the Copilot integration.
