This error message appears when Cortex is unable to authenticate with your Jira instance. The most common causes are expired, revoked, or insufficiently permissioned credentials. Even if the Jira user account is still active, the token itself may no longer be valid.
To resolve the issue:
Go to Cortex → Settings as indicated in the notification. Remove the existing Jira integration. Re-add the integration using a new token or OAuth credentials, ensuring the user generating them has full Jira access. If using OAuth, confirm that the redirect URI configured in Jira matches exactly with the one in Cortex—differences like an extra slash or subdomain can cause connection failures.
If the problem continues, collect any visible error messages or screenshots and contact support for further investigation.
