If team or user metrics in the All Metrics view look lower than expected, this is almost always caused by missing identity mappings (for example, GitHub user mappings).
Cortex only counts activity when it can match a person in the Team Catalog to an external account like GitHub. If a team member does not have a GitHub identity mapped, their PRs, deployments, and other activity can’t be attributed to them or to their team.
This can show up in a few ways:
A team with many members shows very little activity
Switching from Team to User only shows a few people with data
Known active users don’t appear in metrics at all
For example, a team might have 25 members, but only 4 appear in All Metrics. In this case, only those 4 users have GitHub accounts mapped in Cortex.
To fix this, go to Settings → Identity mappings → GitHub user mappings and add or accept the missing mappings for team members. Once mappings are in place, refresh the All Metrics view, and the data should populate correctly.
This behavior is expected, and metrics will only reflect activity for users with valid identity mappings.
